Gongdeok Station in Seoul, South Korea, is popular with foreign tourists due to its easy access to both Incheon and Gimpo Airports. Today, I’d like to introduce a great spot for kimbap—" The WanBeokHan Gipbap 더완벽한김밥- means The Perfect Kimbap in Korean " located near Gongdeok Station.

Easy Directions
Take Exit 8 at Gongdeok Station and walk about 10 meters behind the Police Mutual Aid Association building. After exiting the station, you’ll see a Starbucks—walk past it and continue straight. Pass the “Good Morning Pastry” café, then cross the crosswalk and turn left. As you walk down the street, you’ll find “The Perfect Kimbap” nestled among the shops on the first floor of an older building.

It’s located in a back alley just off the main road, tucked between other shops.

It’s a small kimbap shop with about seven tables seating two to four people each. I visited around 8 AM, and there were both solo diners and people ordering takeout. With such steady activity, it’s no wonder the ingredients are always fresh.

You can place your order at the kiosk on the right side, but since the mornings aren’t very busy, the owner sometimes takes orders directly. (He can speak English little bit! )
Water, kimchi, pickled radish, and soup are all self-serve, and when you finish your meal, you return your dishes yourself.
I ordered the two basic items: the “Perfect Kimbap” and the “Spoonable Tteokbokki.” I always like to start with a restaurant’s signature items to get a feel for the place.

Tteokbokki is cooked as soon as an order comes in, and kimbap is wrapped right away. They were wrapping a huge amount of kimbap, probably because there was a group order.

A full kimbap cross-section! (Rice, carrots, creamy, radish, egg, cucumber, burdock, ham) Personally, I prefer kimbap that is full like this rather than just rice. This type of kimbap is good to chew and is good to eat with other dishes like tteokbokki without feeling heavy.

The tteokbokki was soup tteokbokki, and it was homemade. The slightly sweet and hot broth was perfect for eating with a spoon or dipping kimbap. Do you know this taste? It was soft and chewy like when rice cakes are boiled in water. There was also a generous amount of fish cake. I like spicy food, so I thought I should try spicy tteokbokki next time.

Dip the kimbap in the tteokbokki sauce! Even though I didn't eat the soup, the tteokbokki sauce alone made me feel warm and full.
